National Voice Competition 2017
The YPO/FGO competition takes place every two years. This year, the Voice Competition was held on April 8 at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach! It was open to opera singers between the ages of 20 and 30 who are residents of the United States. Singers competed in two divisions: Senior (ages 26 to 30) and Junior (ages 20 to 25).
Approximately 30 singers are invited to participate in the semifinal round of the competition. Many of these singers are students or graduates of leading voice programs throughout the world and have significant performance experience as members of young artist programs. The judges selected up to 12 singers to advance to the final round. All participants in the final round won at least $1,000, with top prizes of $10,000 for the Senior division and $7,500 for the Junior division.
