Program Components:
The first component of the program is the adaptation and creation of special pre-performance written materials for our In School opera mini performances that visit more than 25 elementary schools annually. The materials include a workbook, a storyboard and other materials to make the eventual presentation of the operas more accessible. The materials are sent to the teachers prior to the performances.
The Second component of the AAO program is presentation and sponsorship of opera performances to neuro-diverse and nontraditional audiences and in nontraditional venues.
The third component of the AAO program is outreach to autistic and neuro-diverse performers and artists.
The fourth component of the AAO program is studying staging and presentation techniques during performances to make operas and their components (sound, lighting, pace, verbal and visual description) more adaptable for neuro-diverse and nontraditional audiences.
